I bought the brown strap to pair with the Kilroy Solar. The leather is comfortable and arrived with a uniform coloration. The hardware pairs nicely with the finish on the watch. This has been my (nearly) daily wear for the past six months... mix of office and outdoor work and recreational activities. It's held up very well.
I really like the way the leather has taken a darker patina with use... I sweat through the strap on a regular basis and it's gotten a beautiful character that will only improve with time.
I would recommend this strap.
Spent a lot of time looking into a heritage style, NATO strap friendly, military watch. I’m glad I did. This watch exceeded my expectations and I wear it more than my other 12 watches. All are solar but this one is truly one of a kind and great value for the price. I’m Canadian, I buy here when I can. I’m glad I did.
I’ve only had my watch for a few weeks, but love it! I was looking for something durable, but nice enough to go with most things I wear day to day. I bought it with the leather mil-spec strap, plus a khaki ribbed nylon strap. Most days it’s on the nylon strap, but I wanted the leather one in case I wanted to wear something put together for a dinner out or an otherwise nice occasion. The leather is a bit lighter in color than I anticipated, but still looks nice. Switching out the straps is very easy.
I haven’t noticed any lag in keeping time, and for a quartz solar watch, the seconds hand hits each marker nicely. That wasn’t a deal breaker for me, but I had researched quartz watches from other brands with similar watch styles and I noticed that was a complaint I saw. The lume is nice and the hands glow very brightly after a short time exposed to sunlight. It took a bit longer under inside light to get that bright. The numbers don’t seem as bright as the hands, which was a bit disappointing, but I’m not often in a spot where it’s pitch dark out, and the face is otherwise very legible.
I did initially have some questions on sizing before I purchased and Redwood was responsive and informative. The 40mm size worked nicely on my smaller wrist, which is about 6.5” to 6.75” diameter. I chose to email them rather than use their chat function. Shipping was easy and I received the watch within about a week from Canada to the US.
Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase, and have already gotten a compliment on its looks. I would definitely recommend Redwood to others, and like knowing I supported a smaller business instead of one of the larger watch manufacturers out there.
Without a date window, these field watches seem like fashion watches despite their specs. The Epson VS37 Solar movement supports it, so is it a design choice? It a pity for an otherwise good looking watch at this price.
I was tired of paying 500-800$ in maintenance every 5-6 years for a high-end watch. This proudly Canadian brand looks great, nearly maintenance free and I love it !
Looks really great. Perfect medium size. Super accurate. Not as elegant as a high end automatic, but quite worth it for the set it and forget it functionality.

I ordered this watch with an olive - drab face and nylon strap. I didn't really like the nylon strap so I replaced it with something a little more classy. I love the watch and wear it more than any other I own (most of the time in fact). keeps great time, is comfortable, looks sharp, reasonably priced and high quality. I also like the story, the company, the etching on the back if the case, and their commitment to making watches closer to where we call home. I will be buying more.

This watch has a dial that is extremely easy to read even in low light conditions. The lume is better than on my Breitling.
For those of us that are old timers and still wear a wristwatch this watch is great. I especially like the solar feature, no batteries a huge plus!
Very nice timepiece. Did not have a green faced watch so a nice addition to my collection. But, the Kilroy etching on back of watch is the best part! And it looks great with the brown leather band I also bought, too.
I have never had more unsolicited compliments on the looks of a watch on my wrist. For me personally, I am very pleased with the looks, feel, and performance of the watch. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a quality watch and a good value for the money spent.

This is a great watch. Looks great - works well, just as comfortable working in the office, coaching baseball or cutting down trees with a chainsaw.
I chose this strap as the 2nd at half price when I purchased the Marine. The look is different from other straps, and gets lots of compliments. No fabric to have to dry out, even nylon stays wet for a while.
Redwood makes some great watches, and this strap is a real stand-out!
I wanted a watch that I could wear all day at work and not be worried about banging it up. I landed on the Recon and have been pleasantly surprised at the quality along with affordability. It’s a great watch for anyone just getting into watches or anyone that wants something new to their collection. Any other brand and you would probably be paying at least double for a comparable watch.
I looked at so many watches before deciding on the Pilot A-13 solar in brushed stainless. Redwood won me over with the incredibly easy to read dial and aviation heritage. I can always read the time, even without glasses. I love the sweep second hand, flat crystal and lume. Everything about this watch is simple, functional and refined. This is now my everyday watch. I like it so much that I also got the black case A-13 for special occasions. They run within +5 seconds per month to NIST time. The provided leather NATO straps are a good value and extremely comfortable, though they’re a bit thin and I’m not sure how long they’ll last. I’m investing in a custom made leather strap. I expect to have these watches for many years to come and I’m sure they won’t be my last 2 Redwoods.
