The Redwood Recon was inspired by the legendary chronographs issued to air force pilots from WW2 onwards. The perfect blend of classic design with modern functionality, the Recon is ready for anything you throw at it. The Recon C-46 Commando Stealth with its military style black black dial and PVD-coated case is pure vintage military style.
This watch is our first one using the Seiko VK64 movement. It seamlessly combines the unparalleled accuracy of quartz timekeeping with the mechanical finesse of a 5 Hz smooth sweeping seconds chronograph module.

Recon: Covert Operations in EAST ASIA
In 1946, as battles raged between Chinese nationalist and communist forces, American war-hero Chennault founded Civil Air Transport to airlift supplies into war zones using surplus C-46 Commando and C-47 Dakota aircraft. CAT recruited daredevil Flying Tigers veterans - who had fought the Japanese in the Pacific - for this high-risk operation. The company was soon acquired by the CIA, flying commercial routes as cover for operating secret anti-communist missions all over East Asia well into the 60s.

Even though most of us will never land a Curtiss aircraft under small arms fire, it is important to know the Recon has a solid historical background and the means to back its looks.
HYBRID MECAQUARTZ CHRONOGRAPH
Experience the precision, ruggedness, and reliability of the Seiko VK64 chronograph movement, a significant upgrade from traditional manual wound pilot chronographs. This hybrid meca-quartz movement seamlessly combines the unparalleled accuracy of quartz timekeeping with the mechanical finesse of a 5 Hz smooth sweeping seconds chronograph module.
You will enjoy exceptional legibility with the Recon's high-contrast dial and large numerals. Whether you choose the Commando with its sword-shaped hands evoking cockpit instruments or the Dakota with period-correct all-black hands, effortless and accurate time-telling awaits. Both models proudly feature a date indicator, further elevating functionality.
BUILT TOUGH
The Recon is also equipped with a sapphire crystal. Being one of the hardest materials - rated at 9 on the Mohs hardness scale whereas diamonds rate at 10 - it is highly scratch-resistant. Its flat shape further minimizes the risk of damage. Its 1.5mm thickness is designed to withstand shock and strong hydrostatic pressure experienced underwater.
The Commando model is available with a black PVD coating for a fully stealth package. With a 40mm case diameter and 47mm length, it is true to period watches. The beefy lugs are drilled for convenient springbar removal.
powerful lume
With its mesmerizingly powerful lume, the Recon ensures exceptional legibility under the most challenging conditions. WW2 pilot watches used radioactive radium to provide illumination, causing safety issue during operation and disposal. Redwood uses non-radioactive Super-LumiNova pigments, a major improvement over mid-century technology. The pigment appears white in daytime conditions and produces a strong greenish glow in low light after exposure to light or UV.
INCLUDED CANVAS POUCH
Each Redwood Recon Chronograph is shipped in a watch pouch borrowing design elements from the M56 compass bag. The sturdy pouch is made of a thick cotton canvas and features 2 slots for the watch and tools or additional straps. It provides a secure, safe and compact way to store and carry the Recon.
